Hi! I’m Lucie, get to know me!

Welcome to Lucie De Ley’s French Fusion Cuisine — where classical elegance meets jazz spontaneity, and every note is simmered to emotional perfection. Pianist, singer, and composer, Lucie stirs tradition with invention, crafting musical dishes infused with soul, spice, and sweet and sour romances. Pull up a chair and let yourself be served.

Background

Lucie’s first taste of music came not from textbooks but from her older sister’s record collection — where French chanson, Ella Fitzgerald, Debussy, and The Beatles all shared the same shelf. In a house without TV, music was the daily nourishment. Despite this early love, she was nudged toward languages rather than scales. But destiny, like a dish needing salt, was incomplete. Music would return — more potent and flavorful than ever.

Musical journey

Her path wound through Brussels where she studied translation, yet something essential was missing. Meetings with Russian pianists rekindled the flame, and she found herself back at the piano — this time for good. Conservatory days, jam sessions by night, compositions on napkins, and cross-genre collaborations — Lucie’s journey has been as layered as her music.

Today, she crafts songs that tell stories — of love, memory, humor and longing — and reinterprets others’ music with tenderness and boldness. Whether she’s fusing Chopin and jazz harmonies, weaving Steve Reich-inspired loops into chanson, or storytelling over a 7/8 Bulgarian groove, Lucie invites listeners to taste her world.
